5 LESSONS FROM MY CHILDREN

Being a kid is rough. I remember, because I was there. As a kid and into adulthood, I never gave much thought to just how important being a parent would be, until you were born. It was then I realized just how significant all the lessons I learned, and all the experiences I had, really were.  Everything that has ever happened in my life, good and bad, was to prepare me to help you.

This message is for you, my loves, and these are lessons I want you to hold close and return to always.

# 1
You are worthy.

Know who you are and whose you are. The greatness you have within you is immeasurable. Remember this, and never let anyone- yourself included – disrespect you. Speak kindly to yourself. Love yourself.  Be good to yourself, and let the inner light within you shine bright. When you share that light, it inspires others to do the same.

# 2
You are more than enough.

Do stuff. Take chances. It’s ok to fail- to fail is temporary. Failing teaches you perseverance, tenacity.  But get up quickly, dust yourself off, and try again, because failure is a much more permanent place- and it doesn’t suit you. Live fearlessly and be bold. No good can come of walking through life timid and afraid. If you want to do something, keep at it, keep learning, and keep going. Not everything comes easy. There are great lessons to be learned in hard work, dedication, and practice. Believe in yourself. You can do it.

# 3
You are brilliant.

Approach problems with clear, unconventional eyes. These fresh ideas can change the world. Allow your mind the freedom to be imaginative, fresh thinking and original. As Henry Matisse said, “Creativity takes courage.” Be proud to speak your truth. Dream. Create. Be brave. Surround yourself with the right people to support you on your journey. The resources you need will come to you because they are attracted to your positive energy.

# 4
You are a gift.

Just as a gift is meant to be given to someone, know the importance of sharing your talents with those around you. Help where and when you are able. Be of service to others. Let your friends and loved ones know with certainty that you care through your actions- not just words. Make an impact. We have been entrusted with the care of each other, and are only borrowing the planet from future generations. Leave it better than when you came.

# 5
You are so loved.

Know you’re never alone, no matter what.  There will be times when life can be overwhelming, and in those moments, be still and talk to God. There will be times of great joy, and monumental success, and in those moments, be still and give thanks to God. All of your blessings, every miracle you’ve encountered, is by His grace. In times of hardship, despair, and struggle, reverently pray with a humbled heart and seek out the lesson. God is always with you and will always answer you, even if the answer is “no.” Trust in His plan, and most importantly, His unwavering love.

I’m here for you, my loves.  You’re my greatest joy in the world, and I couldn’t be more proud of you. I’m so honored to be your mom.
